Trinity's Social Ministry Committee sponsors participation in Lutheran World Relief project kits. Bar soap and other items for layette kits, health kits, sewing kits, school kits and quilts are collected all year long with a major emphasis in July. Items for kits are collected all year long and can be placed in the blue storage tub at the bottom of the tower stairs. The Tie that Binds meets monthly to tie quilts for LWR. In October of 2009, Trinity boxed 69 quilts, 160 layette kits, 32 health kits, 283 school kits, 52 sewing kits and 13# of soap for LWR. By participating in LWR projects our hearts and minds are opened to a broader understanding of doing justice, loving kindness and walking humbly with our God.
Lutheran World Relief works with partners in 35 countries to help people grow food, improve health, strengthen communities, end conflict, build livelihoods and recover from disasters. Their motto is: TOTO (to others, through others). For more information on LWR, check out their web site at lwr.org.
